The ARTucker concept was formed by Patricia "Patty" Kurtz Young in May 2015, with its first show at Tucker Recreation Center. From the beginning, the intent has been to feature local artists in a friendly, affordable venue open to the public. ARTucker has hosted two shows a year through 2019.
Over this time, all net profits from the events have been distributed to local groups--in keeping with the intent of promoting local art awareness and accessibility. Benefactors have included the Tucker Recreation Center, the Tucker Art Guild, and Tucker High School's Art Program. In early 2019, ARTucker was awarded 501c3 nonprofit status. Patty Young continues as the President of the organization, working with Tucker-based artists and businesspeople to form the Board of Directors. Visitors to our shows are primarily from Tucker and surrounding areas; events average 200-250 attendees in a relaxed yet professional atmosphere. A key feature for artists is that the people who turn out for ARTucker are not only shoppers but also buyers. In this way, ARTucker provides artists with opportunities to present their creations, and local clientele supports the artists to continue following their passions. Community Sponsors have generously supported ARTucker in the past, and we look forward to mutual promotion in the future. ARTucker halted shows during the Covid pandemic and resumed activity in 2022 with our first outdoor show. A phone essay by Dean Hesse documents the fun we had at William McKinley Peters Park in Tucker on Saturday, April 30, 2022. |
We In May invite you to follow us on Facebook to stay informed of opportunities to participate as an artist, volunteer, shopper or community sponsor. The President and Board are committed to bringing art to Tucker...better than ever!
In May 2023 we had a wonderful event located at the Tucker Church Street Green Space park. We liked it so much, we are returning in April 2024. See some of the event pictures below: |
